Roma caput mundi
We suggest a visit to the City that in the ancientness was considered the capital of the world. This tour combines the visit with trip to the most amazing charming coast of southern Italy: the Amalfi Coast.
After the touch with the splendor of the architecture of Roman and Renaissance artists, that is known as the really unique in the world, you will move to the Southern Italy to visit famous places such as Positano andRavello and of course Amalfi.
You cannot miss Sorrento, whose center extends on a high tufa terrace overlooking the sea from a height of 50 meters. From the city you will have a first impression of the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius, one of the three active Italian volcanoes.
On the road to Amalfi you will see a unique view of valleys and promontories between coves, beaches and terraces planted with citrus, grapes and olives. A unique setting, protected by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
It is provided the deviation to Ravello. This is the center that lies 350 meters above sea level and is considered one of the charms of the coast for the elegance of its villas. Then you have a look of Positano, that is a holiday resort since the Roman Empire, with its white houses sloping to the sea, gathered around the church of Santa Maria Assunta, also from the tiled dome. Its typical small and rich shops streams where you can buy local handicrafts and the many “steps” that come from the country down to the beach. Among the main beaches we remember the beach and the Great Fornillo, both within walking distance; La Porta, Arienzo and San Pietro Laureano, all accessible mainly by boat.
Before leaving we get you to Capri for a brief trip (you can extended the duration). Capri is one of the most chic island of European tourism. Then we suggest to spend a lot of your time in Maiori, fishing village known for its fine sandy beach, and also in Minori: someone gave to this little town the name of “Eden on the Amalfi Coast” for climate windy and cool.
Finally the town Amalfi, ancient Maritime Republic, which gives its name to the whole coast: don’t miss the cathedral of St. Andrew the Apostle, in Arab-Sicilian style, rebuilt in Baroque style in the ‘700, with the wonderful staircase and its beautiful cloister.
